Job Description

 

JOSA is the Jordanian not-for-profit working for the promotion of open technologies and the defence of technology users in Jordan. One of our current strategic objectives is to sustain the strategic growth of JOSA, through strengthening our online presence, partnerships, skills, infrastructure and financial sustainability.

The Development Officer will be responsible of the succesful growth of JOSA within our strategic objectives. The tasks and duties of the Development Officer are divided as follows:

 

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fundraising (30%):
   • Grant-writing, facilitate donor fundraising, identifying future fundraising opportunities.
   • Develop and track proposals and reports for all JOSA's received grants.
   • Support the board and the management in strategic budgeting.
2. Relationships (30%)
   • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors.
   • Seek out and cultivate relationships with other JOSA-related organizations and activities.
   • Serve as a liasion between JOSA and external partners.
3. Promotion (20%)
   • Create a respectful reputation for JOSA.
   • Work with the Communications Team to promote JOSA to its donors and maximize public awareness of JOSA's activities.
   • Support building the JOSA's brand, create awareness and advocacy, and increase support to the organization.
4. Internal Development (20%)
   • Implement upskilling and capacity building activities for JOSA’s team, through training, career development and participation in programs and conferences.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Passionate about JOSA’s mission and values.
• Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a similar field.
• Previous experience in the ICT sector and/or in civil society organizations.
• Previous experience in fundraising, grant writing and relationships' management.
• Strong knowledge of Technology and/or Human Rights.
• Strong time management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Able to think creatively.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of programming is not required, but highly appreciated.

 

REPORTING

The Development Officer reports to the Executive Director.

We believe that information that is non-personal – whether it’s software code, hardware design blueprints, data, network protocols and architecture, content – should be free for everyone to view, use, share, and modify.
