Junior Research Assistant, TFGBV

Description

JOSA is the Jordanian not-for-profit working for the promotion of open technologies and the defense of technology users in Jordan. We believe that strong technical and legal guarantees should be in place to protect technology users, in the fields of privacy and digital safety.

The Junior Research Assistant will primarily assist in developing a comprehensive Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence Glossary in both Arabic and English. Additionally, they will contribute to a study examining the Impact of TFGBV on Women and Girls in Jordan.

This a three month consultancy, expected to start from September 15th to December 15th, 2024. It is expected that a commitment of at least three days per week is needed. Associated tasks could be performed and delivered online, however physical in-person attendance is required for official meetings or when otherwise requested by JOSA.


TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

I. TFGBV Glossary

1. Collect all TFGBV terminologies alphabetically, along with their definitions from specified resources, in both English and Arabic.
2. Develop an alphabetical bibliography or list of references for all identified terminologies and definitions.
3. Assist in localising and translating any non-localised or untranslated terms and definitions.
4. Support in conducting the Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with relevant stakeholders, including the development of the FGD guide, questions, and note-taking.
5. Maintain proper documentation, including templates, references and relevant documents.

II. Study on Impact of TFGBV on Women and Girls

• Support in conducting the Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with relevant stakeholders, including the development of the FGD guide, questions, and note-taking.
• Support in conducting the Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with TFGBV survivors, including the development of the KII guide, questions, and note-taking.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and align with Do No Harm principles.
• Develop a detailed study paper that encapsulates all the findings and discussions in Jordan.
• Maintain proper documentation, including templates, references, and relevant documents.
