Who We Are?
Jordan Open Source Association is a community-based movement created to promote Open Source and Free Culture in Jordan and the Arab World.
Our History
The association was established in October 2009 in order to include all the Open Source supporters within one single entity. The bigger part of the founders came from Jordan University of Science and Technology where there are two Open Source clubs, JUST Open Source Group and JUST MozillaClub, today these two organization still work and are considered two members of the Jordan Open Source Association.

We were not only the first guys to speak about Creative Commons and Open Content in Jordan, but we distributed more than 2000 CDs, 10000 Stickers + Swags and free donuts with coffee for everyone! |
There are other clubs in different universities which joined the Association in addition to several educational institutions that work side-by-side with the Association in order to accomplish its objectives.
Our Basics
We encourage the use of Open Source software in general, and we try to create communities around them, we did it with our "Firefox in Jordan" -the first project to be officially showcased by Mozilla at Spread Firefox website- with Jordan Drupal Meetups and with our partnership with Google ambassadors. If you have an Open Source project you want to promote in Jordan, count on us!

Our Members
The Association is the biggest movement in Jordan to promote Open Source and it consists of high-qualified IT professionals, enthusiast students as well as the less tech-savvy average users. Who will join us will join a community, will join the wonderful world of Open Source.

We have also an active community on Facebook, social activities and periodic meetups.
Our Activities
We provide training courses about Linux, PHP, MySql and other Open Source technologies most needed by the Jordanian market. We also held Linux installation festivals, and we provided face-to-face support to members. If you have problems with your Open Source program or you have some questions to ask, we are more than ready to help you.
In addition to courses, we organize meetings with international Open Source experts and lectures presented by well-known specialists.
