Open Source and Drupal

Lecture presented by Jacob Redding.

Jacob Redding is an Open Source geek and board member of Drupal Association.

Jacob holds a Masters in Finance from Portland State University and worked in several IT forms including Intel and Shanghai-based startup Raincity Studios.
In 2009 he was elected board member of Drupal Association.
Drupal is the most popular open source content management framework, written in PHP, and used by companies like Yahoo, MTV, Warner Bros and organizations like the White House.

Document Freedom Day 2008

The Open Source Group at JUST celebrated the Document Freedom Day (DFD) on March 26. The DFD is a global day for Document Liberation with grassroots action for promotion of Free Document Formats and Open Standards in general, reported the event's site.

JUST Open Source Group was one of the 200 teams in 60 countries that worked for the event, as stated by the DFD website, and one of the three Jordanian teams.

Linux Users Meeting in Yarmouk University

The meeting aims to spread the free software and open source philosophy between Yarmouk's students and promoted the creation of a large-scale open source group in North Jordan. Former OSG president Issa Mahasneh invited all the meeting attendees to be involved in volunteering activities to promote Linux and free software, and stated that he actually encourages the creation of a large organization for Linux and open source users.
