New Logo for Ubuntu

A new logo and theme have been selected for Canonical's Linux distribution, Ubuntu, six years after it was first launched.

The new designs are based on feedback from the community and the review conducted by a small team lead by Mark Shuttleworth in 2009. Representatives of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu and Xubuntu worked with the Canonical design team in London and produced this work:

Ubuntu's Wiki states the key values the team believe are reflected in the new brand; Precision, Reliability, Collaboration and Freedom. Canonical will keep shipping high quality software on time, building Ubuntu for serious, secure and reliable use. Ubuntu is also the result of collaborative work between thousands of people producing the very best free software platform.

Ubuntu said that while the branding has changed, the freedoms and rights have not. As the community will still have access to the resources needed to create logos based on the new branding. Ubuntu will also provide the new font, images, color specifications, and recommendations for branding websites, t-shirts and the other needs of Ubuntu's community.

Based on the new logo a new splash screen has been also created:

A new theme and CD concept have also been developed:

Wow... it really looks fantastic! Great job! (And please don't listen to the haters!)

its great i love it !! but am using LINUX MINT ,I think its better then ubunto

I like both logos, the first one though, you can read it better as the symbol is around the same size as the text. On the second logo the symbol is too small and the text too big. Just my 2 cents.
