New Design and Features for Open Clip Art Library
The Open Clip Art Library team announced the publishing of a new release of Open Clip Art Library (http://openclipart.org). The site which reached version 2.0 contains more than 26,000 original and remixed high quality scalable vector graphic (SVG) files that have been produced by over 1,200 creative artists.

The site contains several new features, the most relevant are the new thumbnail previews and the easily browsable PNG bitmap downloadable files. The site's team stated that the focus of the new site is the artist and artwork, a new theme for the design has been implemented by well known Inkscape artist and developer Andy Fitzsimon together with a brand-new logo from Robert Martinez from http://quicktutorials.org.
An important change happened behind the scenes with the adoption of the Aiki Framework, a flexible open-source web 2.0 platform that allows programmers to easily create and work with content management systems. The Aiki Framework, which is based on PHP and MySql, currently drives the website after the hard work of the Fabricatorz based in San Francisco. The Fabricatorz on this project are Bassel Safadi, Ronaldo Barbachano, Brad Phillips, and Jon Phillips.
All the works submitted to Open Clip Art Library are free for use by the public, for all purposes, under the Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication. The community encourages the point back to the original source of the work, but its not required. The project also encourages all artwork to spread globally, as is the case with much of the clipart landing onto Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects.
