Interview with Aramram Web TV

 

Few are the times when Open Source is given attention at large scale, the topic is always low-prioritized by TV channels, newspaper and traditional media, but Aramram, known to be the most innovative and modern source of information of Jordan, impressed their audience again and reserved an entire episode to discuss Creative Commons and Open Source with Jordan Open Source Association members Issa Mahasneh and Eman Jaradat.
The interview was put online on January 25th within the weekly program "Daleel al Internet" (Internet Guide).

Creative Commons and Open Source for Dummies
"What is Creative Commons and how can we benefit from it compared to other traditional form of copyright?". Association's members gave an understandable and human answer to the question. "Creative Commons is a legal method to allow artists, bloggers and writers to have their creative products shared, so everybody can use them freely".
Eman added some of the examples of organizations which use Creative Commons, like Al-Jazeera Creative Commons repository of Gaza videos, Jeeran online community and of course Jordan Open Source Association.

"The Jordan Open Source Association was the first entity to be aware of Creative Commons in Jordan", added Issa. "We represent the CC community here and we try to work hard to promote CC and raise community awaireness of these topics".
"Tolerance of software piracy makes Jordanians indifferent about Open Source" said Eman, "We are working to create an Open Source community in Jordan" she added.

Good job Issa and Eman, even I am with you and I am totally convinced of what you said. But honestly I think we still missing something, that's I really do not know what is it.

We still need a strong argument, we must look of a better way to attract people attention. And provide better evidences.

I do appreciate what you are doing.
